We supported a very talented group of engineers in the design and development of a Lightweight Sensor Pod for the SH-60 Seahawk Helicopter.

We performed the airworthiness stress and dynamic analysis on the Pod Primary and Secondary Structure. Finite element and classical hand analysis techniques were used to support the initial design and sizing of the graphite fiber skins, bulkheads, nosecone, and tailcone structures.

The analysis incorporated a wide range of loading events, including but not limited to, random vibration, sinusoidal vibration, gunfire vibration, flight acceleration, operational shock, crash loads, and pyroshock loads.

A modal analysis and a frequency response analysis was conducted on several of the internal components mounted in the Pod to ensure the transmissibility does not adversely impact the dynamic survivability of the equipment. Detailed documentation was generated to support the airworthiness certification of the Lightweight Sensor Pod and the interfaces to the Navy SH-60 Helicopter.
