Aircraft Wing Structure
Colley Aerospace consulted in the design and development of a business jet elevator horn structure. We performed the airworthiness stress and dynamic analysis on the fiber reinforced composite and metallic structures that comprised the elevator horn assembly and de-icing system.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand analysis techniques were used to support the design, fabrication, and certification testing. The analysis incorporated a wide range of loading events, including but not limited to, aerodynamic pressures, de-icing system loads, random vibration loads, temperatures loads, flight accelerations, and other discrete source damage.
A modal analysis was conducted on the assembly to determine the random vibration loads acting on the de-icing equipment. Detailed documentation was generated to support the FAA airworthiness certification of the aircraft.
